I look back at my IHM years with great fondness.  My education strongly influenced my life and the person I am today.  It was not only the strong curriculum or the discipline that I carried with me through my high school and college years, but it was more than that.  Immaculate Heart of Mary was a “home away from home”.  The teachers did not only teach math and English; but they were like second moms teaching right from wrong, how to be kind, and how to give back.  They were proud of your success.  Your classmates not only sat in the desk next to you for eight years but they became cherished, life time friends.

Years later when those same classmates became moms and dads just like me and we reunited in the IHM parking lot to send our “first-borns” off to school, they had come to the same conclusion as I had:  IHM School was the best “home away from home” for our children.

As the old saying goes, “the more things change, the more they stay the same”, so it is at Immaculate Heart of Mary.  Smart boards have replaced chalkboards and erasers, computers have replaced typewriters and paper, but the heart of the school has remained the same.  Teachers pass out warmth and encouragement as readily as they do homework.  A curriculum challenges students to reach their full potential as they go out into the world.  But most importantly, IHM still offers a “family” that always welcomes you back.
