Prewar:

Robert Yeager was born in Des Moines, Iowa. His parents are Edyth and Cloyd Yeager. Robert’s siblings were Mary and Jean Yeager. Robert went to Central Hower Vocational High school. He was a pretty good student. The things that he enjoyed playing most were football and baseball.

 

 

Military:

Robert was drafted on August 15th, 1942. He was 21 when he joined. Robert was very proud when he entered the military. After his military basic training he learned how to drive large and also did maintenance on the vehicles. He drives various heavy vehicles hauling supplies, and supplies, and towing wrecked vehicles. He mostly made long runs, over all types of terrain in England, France, and Germany.

 

War time military experience:

To the war zone Robert traveled by ship. He was stationed in Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. His Tour began on September 1st, 1942. Robert delivered supplies all over England, France, and Germany. Robert towed and wrecked vehicles. He made long and short runs. He enjoyed the food off base mostly in Germany and France. Robert saw the famous movie star Mickey Rooney he came over to visit him and perform. He attended a USO show. This experience was Great! He wrote regularly and he mailed a lot while he was over seas. When Robert finished with his tour he was happy to return safely and see his family. The highest rank he ever received was the private first class. Robert received the World War 2 victory medal, the good conduct medal, American campaign medal, European African meddle Eastern medal with three bronze stars. When Robert came home he had a wonderful family party, and saw his three year old daughter for the first time.

 

 

Post War:

Right after Robert was discharged he went straight to work. He worked construction and carpentry work. He met his spouse Mary Yeager. He married her before the war. Robert had 3 daughters: Sharon and twin daughters Barbara and Beverly. He also had six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He worked at Goodyear Aircraft corp.

He lived in Akron, Ohio and Noblesville, Indiana.

His hobbies were to go fishing and go camping with his family. It would be fine if you published Robert Yeager’s story on the internet.
