The 6th grade girl’s soccer team coached by Mr. Luebbering had a very good record of six and two. That means they won six games and only lost two. The players are Courtney, Alex, Grace, Carrie, Alyssa, Britany, Lindsay, Colleen, Lauren, and Adrienne. The girls used to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 7:30 at Keyser Park or at Immaculate Heart of Mary’s soccer fields. Now since they are in the tournaments their practices are on Wednesday 5:30 to 7:00 at Immaculate Heart of Mary’s soccer fields. At the practices the girls work on shooting, passing, foot skills and working as a team. At the practices the girls work extremely hard so their dream of winning the championship comes true. During the game the defense players are Courtney, Carrie, Alyssa, Lindsay, and Colleen. The forward players are Alex, Grace, Britany, Colleen, and Lauren. The midfield players are Alex, Grace, and Alyssa. The goalie position is played by Adrienne. The defense players have to keep the ball from getting to goal and try to kick the ball down the field to the midfield or forwards. The midfield players play both forward and defense. The forwards are the ones who take the ball to the other teams goal and score. The goalie protects the goal and catches all the shots on the goal made by the other team. One goal in soccer counts as one point. Who ever gets the most points wins the game, but there is a time when they have ties and they go into over time and if no one scores then, they have what you call a shoot out. This is when five players from each team have a chance to shoot at the goal and who ever makes the most goals wins. If it is still a tie they keep doing this until someone scores the most.

At their games the girls work together on the field. They pass to each other and talk. That’s why they have such a good record, because of this the girls are in second place and received a bye. A bye is when in the tournament you don’t have to play the first weekend you get to advanced place in the second round of the tournaments. This is a very good thing to receive because first of all it shows how good your team was during the regular season. Secondly you have a better chance of winning the championship because you did not get eliminated in the first rounds of the tournament.

These sixth grade girls had an awesome soccer season and have a good chance of wining the championship. They play together as a team, go for the ball and talk to each other. This and having an awesome coach, like the girls have, are all the things you need to make a wining team.
