Some of the First grade
The first grade has two homeroom
classes, 1A and 1B. This report is on 1B. 1B is on the first floor of our
school. They have twenty-four students in their home-room. The teacher in 1B is
Mrs. Lambes. There are 13 girls and there are 11 boys in 1B. The 1st
grade does not switch at all so Mrs. Lambes has her students all day long
except for library, music, Spanish, computer, and gym. Every day the class has
morning meetings and they give a report of the weather for the day. Every week
the class has a superstar and they talk about that person and what that person
does.
Some of the students’ favorite Subjects are:
John-math; Erin-science; Luke-art; and Dom-social studies. Conner and Kate like
to play freeze-tag at recess, and Lily said she likes to pretend that she is a
superhero. Most of them like playing kickball and playing on the play ground
though. When the students play on the playground they do tricks on the bars,
slide down the slides, run around, swing on the black slidy-bar, and much more.
The students play freeze tag by having one student be “it”, and then the rest
of the students run around and when the student that is “it” tags someone else,
they have to freeze until another student that is not “it” tags he/she so then
they will not be frozen any more.
In math class they are learning solid
figures. In religion they are learning the three virtues, which are hope,
faith, and love. In Spanish they are learning parts of the face. In music they
are learning musical notes and how many beats to give each note. They are
reading fiction and non-fiction books. In the classroom they work on a lot of
Art. They make flowers, drawings for their teacher, different biomes and
habitats, and a lot more. Also, to improve their artwork and math skills they
draw shapes or objects, such as fruit, and shade them in as fractions.
The first grade is very busy with these
things and other activities, such as field trips. They have only gone on one field
trip so far. They went to the Akron Zoo in April 2005. The students also liked
how the field trip went overall. They saw an
