Serving is a great opportunity to become a bigger part of the church. Servers help out the priests and deacons during the Mass, and assist them in what they need. Servers must be trained properly trained before they can become a server. In training the servers learn all the things that they need to know so they do things right while they serve. Serving is a choice at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church; some people don’t even become servers at this school. Many servers enjoy serving because they think that this is a good way to show God that they truly love your faith.

The servers must go through training to become a server. In training a server learns all the things that they have to do and know while they serve. The deacon usually takes the servers through the Mass step by step so they can understand everything they should know about what they have to do. Anyone can become a server, but they have to be in fifth grade or above. Before anyone can become a server they have to sign up. The priests and deacons will then tell you the dates you will meet. They usually have about six meetings then the new server can serve. Servers are filling the role that was once for the ordained, they were called The Order of Acolyte. The priests and deacons say that the servers are a huge help to them. They always get them the things they need so they don’t have to leave their seats. They hope that all the servers will keep fulfilling their duties and do what they are asked.

The main reason why we have servers is to help out the priests and deacons during the Mass. At the beginning of the Mass they carry up the cross and the two candles to represent that we are going to worship God. They also bring up the lectionary while the priest prays over the people. They bring up the wine, the cups, and the bread during communion, and they clear the table after communion. Servers get to serve at funerals and weddings, and sometimes they even get paid!

Some people become servers because they think that it will bring them closer to God and because they will always know that God’s grace is guiding them and watching over them at all times. Now that they are servers, they are all proud to be serving God in their lives. Servers are a great help to the church. They help out tremendously! Servers do a lot to help out the priests and deacons and they are very grateful.

People that go to the Masses think that the servers are huge help to the priests and deacons. Servers are often role models to the younger kids because of all the things that they are included into the Mass. This inspires the little kids to become server when they are older. Parents love how their kids can help at the Mass and become more included with the parish. Serving is a great way to get involved more in the activities for the church.
