Grandparents and Special Friend Day Performance was on November 22, 2004. The people performing were first, second, third grade, and the eighth grade choral group. The performance was managed by Mrs. Wyzynski and Mrs. DePew. There was a preview for the show the day before, and the students from our school were the audience. At the dress rehearsal all of the people went through their songs to just see how the performance would go. This dress rehearsal went very well and all of the observing students liked the performance. After the preview the students performing felt calm and collected and knew they were ready.

The show began after the grandparents and special friends were done with their refreshments and all of the other activities that took place that day. (This information you will find on the I.H.M. home page. You can click on Grandparents and Special Friends Day). The songs “Give Thanks” and “The Land of Opportunities” warmed the hearts of all. The children from third grade read two poems about family.

Family and friendship was the main idea for the second segment. The songs were “There’s Nothing Like Family” and “I Would Like To Be Your Friend “followed by another two poems. Since children are the future, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade sang “We Are The Future.” Finally, it wouldn’t be a complete performance without a song and poem about thanks since it was near Thanksgiving time and thanks is one of the main themes. They sang “Give Thanks Reprise” to close out the show.

The second act was put on by the 8th grade choral group who sang the famous John Denver song “Grandma’s Feather Bed.” After the song was over the eighth grade choral group gave Mrs. Jacobs a bouquet of flowers for playing the guitar for their performance and for going to all of the practices with them. The first act also gave Mrs. Wyzynski and Mrs. DePew bouquets of flowers for helping to plan the first act of the performance.

Performers, Teachers, and Instructors comments:

The first graders like performing because they say its one of the most exciting things they have done this year. Like first grade, the second grade and third graders enjoyed themselves practicing and performing. The eighth grade choral group really enjoyed themselves because they missed classes and stayed after school with friends. The people who also enjoyed themselves were the teachers and the instructors who were: Mrs. Jacobs, Mrs. Falanga, Mrs. DePew, Miss Ward, and Mrs. Wyzynski. We thank them for doing such a great job!

Grandparents and Special Friends Comments:

Over all they loved the performance. They all think that it was nice to view and well put together. They say they are very excited to come next year and see another beautiful performance. They especially liked the John Denver song, and they would like to here more of him next year and the years to come. Also, the Grandparents are looking forward to the next production put on by the school ”Annie”.
