Dismissal for all students and special visitors

Many of the students were very excited to start their Thanksgiving break with a half day of school.

Grandparent’s Day was enjoyed by over five hundred grandparents and special friends. Many grandparents came last year and again this year. They all said that both times they came they were treated with respect, and they enjoyed every minute. They were very thankful for the chance to spend this time with their friends that are students here at IHM. The visitors loved to see what the students did when they were at school. Many students and their special visitors went out to eat or spent the rest of their day together. The day was put on by many volunteers, and they did a wonderful job. The hosts helped the visitors find their way around the school. Also, they served the coffee, or they passed out packets of seeds, because the theme this year was “Garden of Blessings.” On the back of the packets there was a message to them.

Special badges were pasted out to all the visitors. They had the name, class, and picture of the students they were visiting on them. The visitors had to wear them through out the day. If the visitors didn’t know where the students room was they could show a hostess the class room number, and the hostess could point it out.

Here are the instructions to a game that was played on Grandparents Day, in the Eighth Grade, called Connection. It is a very good game to bond with family and friends.

To begin, you get five minutes to find as much information about your partner (your special visitor) and write it down while they do the same to you. Then on the board you draw dots all over. One group starts and they say a fact like “My grandma’s favorite flower are tulips” and then if you have a connection such as, “My Grandma likes to garden,” and you raise your hand and say “Connection.” The person, who made the connection, draws a line to connect the dots. If you make a square, you put your names in it. The team with most complete squares at the end wins. This is a very good game to learn about your partner.
