Girl Scout Law and Promise

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's largest organization dedicated to all girls, helping them to build character and gain success for the real world. There are almost four million Girl Scouts; 2.8 million girl members, and 986,000 adult members working primarily as volunteers today. The Girl Scout national headquarters is in New York City, with over 400 employees. They work very hard to make today’s young girls become tomorrow’s leaders.

The organization has been around for 92 years, started in March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low. Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of their isolated home environments, and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid. Now, her dream is a reality.

Girl Scouts of USA (GSUSA) was chartered by the United States Congress in 1950. GSUSA is part of a worldwide family of 8.5 million girls and adults in 144 countries. It is a non profit organization.
