In October, the fourth grade went on a field trip to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The Cuyahoga Valley Park consists of a hiking, and biking trail called the Towpath. It also has a pond and a huge forest where you can find a variety of animals and plants.

The Cuyahoga Valley has loads of history to it. The Ohio Canal and Erie Canal opened in 1827. The canal flows through the park and became a main way of transportation for the Native Americans. The Native Americans helped put the Midwest on the commercial map. In 1860, the railroad replaced the canals. Later in 1974, the Cuyahoga Valley was named a National Recreation Area. The Cuyahoga Valley was named a National Park in 2000. The Cuyahoga Valley has a beautiful scene that can be viewed in all the seasons, especially in the fall.

The Cuyahoga Valley had two programs that the fourth grade attended. The first was “At Water’s Edge.” The other program attended was “Among Water’s Edge.” A favorite activity was the hike through the forest. They stopped throughout the hike and went searching for creatures that were in the ground, in the trees, under the rocks, and on different types of plants. They also went to a pond and found many creatures in the water. They then looked up what the creatures were. Once they were done at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the park rangers came back to their classes. Back at school they did more experiments with the fourth grade.

The fourth grade went on this field trip for their science class. They went on this field trip to find out more about different habitats, vertebrates, invertebrates, carnivores, herbivores, decomposers, and adaptation. This was Mrs. Erdos’ fifth time that she has gone on this field trip.
