Mr. Hall is the computer teacher here at I.H.M grade school. He teaches grades Kindergarten through Eighth.    The First graders through Sixth graders type when they come into computer class.    He expects his students to be hard workers. He gives them challenging assignments.  They can succeed in their work if they do their jobs to the best of their ability.  The curriculum here is focused on Microsoft Office, Windows, and typing.

Kindergarten has a web site that teaches them about reading and writing. They are also learning about Christmas. First grade uses the same web site as Kindergarten which teaches them to read and write.  The Second graders are creating PowerPoint Presentations called “All About Me”.  They have five slides on this presentation.  The Third and Fourth graders are using Microsoft Photo Editor to crop pictures of themselves.  The Third and Fourth graders have to make a PowerPoint Presentation on three-five friends.  The Fifth graders have an art picture web page assignment.  They are learning how to make seamless backgrounds using Microsoft Photo Editor.

The Sixth graders are using the Microsoft Photo Editor to crop a picture of themselves.  They are creating a PowerPoint called “Day of the Dead.” The Sixth graders are making tests that have questions, like true or false, matching, and other stuff.  The Seventh graders are making a “My Friends PowerPoint” and contain four to six slides.  The WordArt title has to have a different, animated texture background.  The pictures have to have a border. Each slide contains twenty to fifty words. It has a slide transition sound and the background has to be a MS pattern background.  They are also using Microsoft Photo Editor.  They have created sports reports on all different sports that students play at IHM.  The students have web pages that show what to look for in proofreading the students’ work.

The Eighth graders are creating a Web Site Research Report. They had to make an outline with questions that the students would have to ask about the subject they have chosen for their Web Page.  They just finished “Our Friends PowerPoint”, which had to have four to six slides of their friends. The Eighth grade had to put an animated texture background in the WordArt. The Eighth grade had to put a sound in their slides.  Each slide had to contain twenty to fifty words about their friend.  Mr. Hall put the eighth graders into proofreading groups so that they could read and correct each other’s papers. The Eighth grade just had a test on the Rubric for our Web Site Research Report.

IHM has new computers and a new projection screen.  When the junior high students leave the room to conduct research, they have to write a note where they are going.  They can borrow the school cameras.  When students are done with their work they have to save it into the common S drive in their correct grade folder.   The students have to follow a rubric, which tells them what to do for their project. The students should get a perfect grade if they include all of the things in the rubric.
