Seventh grade is a small class of only
34 students. Each student believes that the jump from 6th to 7th
grade was a big one. Last year, they had every basic subject every day. This
year the 7th grade has a different schedule called block
scheduling. To the students, not only is the schedule hard to understand, but
their new information is difficult for them to comprehend. The 7th
grade is looking forward to this new school year, but not so much the
homework. A total of four teachers teach the basic
subjects in the seventh grade. Mrs. Bahmer teaches
Religion, Spelling, and English and is also the 7A homeroom teacher. Mr.
Hardesty, another 7B homeroom teacher, teaches 7th and 8th
grade math. Miss Ward, the 8B homeroom teacher, teaches the 7th
grade both Literature and Social Studies. Last but definitely not least, Mrs.
Falanga, the 8A homeroom teacher, teaches science
to both the 7th and 8th grade. |

Mr. Hardesty There
are many great teachers at Immaculate Heart of Mary and Mr. Hardesty is one
of them. Mr. Hardesty teaches 7th grade Math. He has been a educator
for 34 years of his life. He was a principal for 20 of those 34 years. When
he wasn’t a principal he taught high school. This is his second year teaching
7th grade. Mr. Hardesty feels that his previous teachers and
coaches influenced him to be a teacher himself. This
year, the 7th grade will be learning Algebra 1 and bits and pieces
of geometry. Mr. Hardesty believes every math class is a fun and exciting
occurrence. Miss Ward Miss
Ward teaches 7th grade Social Studies and Literature. She has been
teaching at Immaculate Heart of Mary for three years. She feels that her
History teacher influenced her to become a teacher herself. In
Social Studies, the students will be learning about knights and kings through
simulation. In Literature they will be learning idioms and elements of
literature. Mrs. Bahmer Mrs. Bahmer has been teaching at Immaculate Heart of Mary for
quite some time, but she has been teaching 7th grade for only 2
years. In 7th grade she teaches Spelling, English, and Religion.
When she was in 8th grade, she did a lot of work with the nuns and
children at school. At the time, the 8th graders went to certain
classes to teach the younger kids and help them like a substitute teacher.
She really enjoyed working with the children and was quite good at it so she
became a teacher. Mrs. Bahmer is teaching the 7th grade about the Sacraments
in Religion class. In English the kids will be learning sentence structure
and will be taking part in creative writing. In Spelling, 7th
grade will be learning root words and Latin prefixes. Mrs. Falanga Mrs. Falanga has been teaching for 25 years. All but two of
those years, she has been with a 7th grade class. Our school has
been lucky to have such a great teacher in the 7th grade for 19
years now. Mrs. Falanga became a teacher because
she loved working with students, especially teenagers. |

Every 7th grader believes 7th
grade is quite different from 6th grade. The block scheduling,
which puts certain classes every other day, was difficult to understand.
Although the schedule is one hard part about this year, they all think the
year won’t be that bad. “My teachers are nice, and what we are learning is
intriguing,” said one 7th grader. Each one believes that their
