Karen Bozzelli Campbell was born on November
13, 1959,
to Gib and Edie Bozzelli. She grew up and attended school in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
She has a sister, Diane, and a brother, Jim. She is also the proud aunt of 15 nieces and
nephews. For Kindergarten she went to Richardson Elementary School, but instead of staying there she
transferred to Immaculate Heart of Mary for grades first through eighth.
At Immaculate Heart she was a straight
A student, literally she never received anything below an A-. Her favorite subject was English, which was
taught by her favorite teacher Mrs. Meadows.
She graduated from Immaculate Heart in 1974. From there she went onto Woodridge High School. Immaculate Heart helped influence her
choice because it gave her good basis, but also she realized there was more
than just a Catholic-based education. She chose Woodridge because of all the opportunities, the
small class sizes, and most importantly its diversity.
While at Woodridge Karen maintained a 3.98 grade point average
receiving only one B throughout her time there. Believe it or not, the B was in the quarter
of physical education where the students had to do gymnastics. Along with her spectacular grades, she was
highly involved with her school. She
was on the Drill Team, which went to the Orange Bowl in Florida. She was
in Spanish club and was the president of the National Honor Society. For her sophomore year she was a Student
Council representative. Her favorite subject in high school was Social
Studies, which was taught by Mr. Ron Hill. When she was preparing for
college, Woodridge offered many pre-college courses and had a lot of
leadership opportunities. Karen graduated from Woodridge in 1978 as third in her class.
She applied for college at the University of Notre Dame, but was not accepted. She was so devastated that she was thinking
of not going to college, but then she heard from a friend about Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She
applied without even visiting and was accepted. At Miami she was a Phi Kappa Tau
Lil’ Sis. Phi Kappa Tau
was a fraternity at Miami. She was a member of the political science
honorary Phi Eta Sigma. She was asked to be in Phi Eta Sigma because of her 3.6 grade point average in her
major, political science. She did not
participate in because she worked 20 hours a week for the Miami Basketball and Sports Information Director. She graduated from Miami with a 3.4 grade point average in May of 1982.
After college, she realized with the political
science major she received from Miami and her curiosity about law that it was
fit she went to law school. She chose
to go to the University
of Akron’s School of Law. There she met Jim Campbell, her loving husband
of 16 years. She graduated from law
school in 1987. While at law school,
she was a deputy clerk to Judge Spicer in the Summit County Probate Court for a year.
In the balance of her law school years, she was a paralegal for the
law firm Amer Cunningham & Brennan Co., L. P.
A.
When
Karen was finished with law school, she remained an associate attorney with Amer Cunningham & Brennan. She married Jim in
November of 1988. Then in November of 1990 she moved to National City Bank.
In January of 1991 Jim and Karen were blessed with their first child, me,
Anthony. Then in November of 1996 they had their second and final son,
Nicholas. This past summer she has also bought a mini dachshund, Baxter.
In
1992, Karen was promoted from Assistant Vice President to Vice President.
Then in March of 2003, she was promoted to Senior Vice President. At National
City Bank Karen manages her client’s credit, tax, and money issues.
Today
both Anthony and Nicholas are students at IHM. Anthony is in his final year
and Nicholas in second grade.
