Our Lady of the Elms High School is a small school, but oddly, they have a lot of scholarships to offer.  The first scholarship is the Alumnae Scholar Scholarship.  This scholarship is for all the young ladies that are eighth graders going into ninth grade.  There are six of these scholarships going out to the entire class of 2009.  For this scholarship, you are graded upon how well you score on your placement test.  You get $1,000 for your tuition, and to keep this, you need to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

The next scholarship is a brand new scholarship that they made only for Immaculate Heart of Mary.  It is called the Immaculate Heart of Mary Elms Scholar.  There are two of these scholarships awarded.  They award the scholarships to the students based on their placement tests, the essay(s) they write, and their grades throughout elementary school.  Just like all of the other schools, you have to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.  This scholarship is very helpful towards the tuition for the girls at Immaculate Heart of Mary who are interested to attend at Our Lady of the Elms.

Saint Vincent & Saint Mary High School doesn’t have as many scholarships as the other high schools, but the amount they give out for the scholarship truly shows the reason behind lack of scholarships.  The first scholarship is the Academic Scholarship.  The people at St. Vincent & Saint Mary High only award this scholarship to eighth graders going into ninth grade.  The scholarship is renewable for four years as long as the students who received the scholarship keep a grading point average of 3.0 or higher.  Typically the scholarship ranges from $1,000 - $3,000, but an exception to this rule is when a student scores exceedingly high on their placement test.  In this case, the student receives a scholarship that provides more help towards their tuition.

The next two scholarships are the same exact thing, except that the names of them are different.  The first one is the Memorial Scholarship, and the other one is the Endowed Scholarship.  You apply for these scholarships by writing essays, and meeting the criteria for the scholarships.  These scholarships are awarded in April.  The student will receive $500 or more, depending on how well they do on the essays.

There are many scholarships at Archbishop Hoban.  The first one that is the Placement Test Scholarships.  The placement tests are the tests that 8th graders take, so they will know what classes they will be put into if they go to Hoban.  This scholarship pays out various prices, depending on how good they have done.  The top 20 8th graders receive this scholarship.  The winners are announced for the scholarship in December.  The students who receive the scholarship can renew this scholarship if they maintain a grading point average of 3.2.

If you are very skilled at fine arts, the scholarship for you is the Donald A. Wartko Scholarship.  This scholarship is for people who need financial aide to go to Hoban.  The students must be well-rounded students that would contribute to the Hoban community through participation in co-curricular activities, such as fine arts.  This scholarship is only for 8th graders only.

The Slinger Family Scholarship is for 8th graders that are enrolled in Concert Band and who also participate in the Marching Band.  The scholarship price depends on their financial need.

The Trustee Scholarships is for well-rounded featured students that want to come to Hoban, but can’t because of their financial problem.  This scholarship is renewable and it pays for 90% of your tuition.  If you need an application, you can get one at the admissions office at Hoban.  There is a criteria of tremendously needing financial need.  You also need to write an essay, recommendations from teachers and your principal, and performances in academics that make contributions to the school community.  To keep this scholarship, the students are expected to keep very good grades, perform in at least one co-curricular activity, and to perform Christian service.

The Father Basil Moreau, C.S.C. Scholarships are offered to students whose score on the placement test is exceptionally well.  These 8th graders would receive an application in the mail. To determine who gets this a scholarship, an interview, teacher recommendation, and an essay is required.  The student who best fulfills the requirements receives the scholarship.

The Alumni Merit Scholarships are worth $300 or $500 for the generosity of the Hoban Alumni Association.  If you have leadership, and service with the school community, you might be a candidate for this scholarship.  These scholarships are for only one year, but you can reapply for this scholarship.  The renewal is also based on evaluations from teachers and students.

The next scholarship is called the Ralph L. & Florence A. Bernard Scholarships.  This scholarship pays for all of your tuition.  You must be capable of doing very well in your academics, and be able to make significant changes in the Hoban school community.  This scholarship is renewable for all the four years that you go to Archbishop Hoban High School.

The Daniel Jay Dietzler 1968 Memorial Scholarship was established is honor of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin K. Dietzler’s son, Daniel.  This scholarship is awarded to only 8th graders going into 9th grade, but this scholarship is renewable.  This scholarship is awarded to those who made a well done performance on their placement test at Hoban.  Good character is needed to receive this scholarship, but it does not matter about your race or creed.  Students who receive the scholarship are expected to maintain, participate in co-curricular activities, and tutor fellow students.

The Donna Ray 1983 Memorial Scholarships are made of two scholarships.  They are for $500 against the tuition for only one year, and which means this scholarship is not renewable.  This scholarship is for only 8th graders going into 9th grade, and it is given to students to honor the memory of Donna Ray.  This scholarship is made possible by the Student Council.

The next scholarship is the David M. and Martha A. Showers Scholarships, and these scholarships are partial renewable scholarships for people who need financial aid.  These students are people who maintain good grades, and will probably make significant changes to the school and church communities.

The final scholarship is called the Zaucha Family Scholarship.  The candidates must have and be able to maintain excellent grades, and be able to participate in at least one co-curricular activity.  The student must also have to engage in a community service program and tutor one or more students during the school year.

Archbishop Hoban High School has many scholarships.  To get info about these scholarships, you can take a placement test at their school.  Archbishop Hoban High School will accept anyone, not judging anyone by their race, color, sex, age, disabilities, or nationality.
