Some of the books in the Library

Grades K through 6th all go to library every week. They can check out books there or take accelerated reader tests. There are selected books that then when they are done reading, they can take a test on and earn point. The students have to get a certain amount of points each quarter for their accelerated readers. Most classes go to the library on Friday to check out any book they want.

Library is some of the student’s favorite class. Most of them like it because it takes away time from their regular subjects and because they get to look at all the books. There are roughly 9,000 books found in the library and most of them are old. The book categories in the library are fiction, non fiction, reference books, accelerated readers, and many more.

There was recently a book fair in the library. The theme for it was hats, because of the movie “The Cat in the Hat.” At the book fair you can buy books and other stuff like pencils and erasers. Most of the kids like it because it has a lot of cool books like “I-Spy” and the “Harry Potter” series. Other popular books are the “Guinness Book of World Records” and the “Lord of the Rings” series.

Mrs. Rosen is the librarian here at I.H.M. There are about twenty parents that help her out there every week. They usually put the books away, help the kids find books when they need it, put stray books away, and they help check out books. There are usually four parents that help out Mrs. Rosen on the same day.

The point of library is to have the kids read more. Most kids play video games and do go to the library that often. It is also a chance to learn new and interesting facts that most students share with there parents.
