The year will soon be coming to an end and the 8th
grade class of 2004 will be graduating. It has been a long nine years together
with the same people, and many lasting friendships have been made. The
graduation will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, on June 4th,
at 7:00
p.m. At the
graduation you can expect things to happen. First the 8th graders
will process in to the song ‘On Eagle’s Wings.’ Then they will go into their
seats and the mass will begin.
It starts off with the opening hymn and then the
introduction, read by Richard S. and Hilary P. The opening prayer will be done
by Fr. Jonathon Zingales. Then, the first reading
which is read by Jordan W. After that, the responsorial psalms will be sung by
cantors: Michaela G., Cali P., Maria B., Mary D., Brittany D., and Kenley B. The gospel will be read and then the homily.
Petitions will be done by Chad A., Robert D., Jamie P., and Becky M. When the
petitions are finished there will be a reflection prayer done by Annie B., Alex
P., and Mariette P. When that is over, diplomas will
be rewarded to each student in alphabetical order. The students will be called
up one by one. When all the students are back in their seats, the candle
ceremony will begin. The following read during the ceremony Todd S., Natalie
D., Ashley R., Colleen L., Kristin M., Christina C., and Maria C. During each
reading, a candle will be lit by Kaitlyn O., Alycia H., Austin J., Jenny R., Ricky C. and Tony D.. Then each student will come up, light a candle, and take
it to their parents. When the students are done, Mrs. Nagel will be introduced
by Alison D. Mrs. Nagel will then make her remarks. When she is done, Father
will make his final blessing and the closing hymn will play. The students will
process out.
The teachers have many activities planned to make
our last year as fun and exciting as possible. On May 4th, the 8th
grade went to Columbus
and had the next day off. On May 7th, the 8th grade
participated in the crowning of Mary. On June 7th, they will be
headed to Cedar Point. Also a few of the 8th graders are putting
together a slide show of our memories from the past years at IHM that will be
played at our last “pep-rally” of the year.
“Don’t count the days, make the days count.”-This
is a quote that our 8th grade students live by everyday.
