Ski Club News

We are hoping to have a good year in ski club.  That means it has to snow.   Boston Mills is open now.  There’s some good news for people in ski club.  On days we don’t have ski club you are able to go to Boston Mills or Brandywine to ski, and get some practice.  We hope to see many new faces at Boston Mills also.  Mrs. Wyzynski (Mrs. Y.). is really excited for ski season to start.

**If you are skiing with ski club and you want to go on other nights besides Friday you can see Mrs. Y for freebee passes.**

Attention Ski Club members!  IHM Ski Club will be holding a chartered bus trip this year on January 31, 2004.  We will be going to Ellicottville, New York for an 8 hour ski trip to Holliday Valley. The bus ride costs $17.00 per person.  Just an 8 hour lift ticket costs $23.00.  If you want a rental and an 8 hour lift ticket that will be $33.00. If you are a snowboarder and you are renting a snowboard and getting an 8 hour lift ticket that will be $43.00.  The bus deposit for $17.00 per person is due by Friday, January 16, 2004.

Ski club will start the Friday we get back from Christmas break. An eighth grader Kaitlyn is really excited for ski club to start.  It is her second year of being in the club.  She is a skier.  She says that she has enjoyed going skiing every Friday night ski with her friends Mariette and Alex.  She says that she is going to be a beginner again so she can become a better skier and review her skiing skills again.  She also really wants to go on the ski trip to Holliday Valley ski resort in New York.  We also have some snow boarders which are Luke, Chris, and Mario.  They are excited and ready to learn how to snowboard.  We also hope to have a full busload of people going to New York.

Last year we had a great season.  We had a lot of snow, so the ski hills were perfect for all types of skiers.  If you are a new skier you will ski most likely on Summit for most of the season.  If you have moved up to intermediate group you will most likely be skiing Peter’s Pride or Buttermilk, then maybe at the end of the season you will be able to ski the most difficult hills.  If you are an advanced ski you will be skiing hills such as North Bowl, Croyle, and tiger.

The Type of Hills

Easy

Difficult

There should be a black diamond, but it blended in w/ the background.  The black diamond means more difficult of a hill.
