This webpage explains the Immaculate Heart
of Mary junior high indoor soccer team. Team members from Immaculate Heart of
Mary are Richard S., Jonathan D., Michael L., Jimmy S., Tim K., Todd S., and
Jeff N. other people are on the team, but are not currently going to Immaculate
Heart of Mary. The coaches are Mr. Stamets and Mr.
DeWitt. We play at the Akron indoor soccer center near the Firestone baseball stadium. It helps
keeps us stay in shape during the winter for those who don’t play basketball.
The rules are very similar, but to my knowledge, the only changes are that
there are no off sides penalties, there is no overtime, the goalie is not
allowed to dribble the ball at any time, and there is a three line kick rule,
where no player can kick a ball over a full half of the field on any kind of
free kick. There are other Immaculate Heart of Mary kids who play in the same
league but are on a different team. The game time consists of two halves which
are both twenty-five minutes in length. The clock only stops if there is an
injury, the game is half over, or the game is over. Each team has seven players
on the field. There is always a goalie. Any one else can either choose to take
offensive action, by trying to score, or defensive action, by trying help the goalie
defend the goal. The goalie may only use his hands if he is in the goalie box,
otherwise it is a handball, besides from that, the goalie is free to move about
the field as he pleases and may even score if he wishes. The wall becomes a
very valuable asset in indoor soccer. It can be used to pass to yourself during
the game, and the ball is only considered “out of bounds” if the ball goes over
the wall completely.
